The Kyrgyz folk were mentioned for the first time in Chinese chronicles from the 2nd Century B.C. The Kyrgyz tribes were a part of the powerful nomadic alliances in the 4th and 3rd Centuries B.C., which represented the interests of China. This was exactly the same time that construction of the Great Wall of China began. In the 2nd -1st Centuries B.C. part of the Kyrgyz tribe used weapons against the peaceful life in the regions of Enesei ("Ene-Sai", in Kyrgyz "Mother River") and Baikal ("Bai-Kal", in Kyrgyz "Rich Lake"). That became the place of the first Kyrgyz state - Kyrgyz Kaganat (Khanate), which existed from the 6th to the 13th Centuries. From the middle of the 9th until the beginning of the 10th Century the Kyrgyz Kaganat comprised the South Siberia, Mongolia, Baikal, wide regions at the Irtysh River, a part of Kashgar, Issyk-Kul region and Talass. That was not only the time of conquests, but also of flowering trade with China, Tibet, Central and Middle Asia. Under the influence of Mongolian Intruders the Kyrgyz people began to move in the direction of Tian Shan, especially under the reign of Genghis' Khan "noble warrior" (Chinese), who in those days established an exemplary monarchy (the Mongolian Empire), but enemies he left with blood and ash. The Kyrgyzstan of today was then part of the inheritance for his second son Chagatai. After that the Kyrgyz people came under the reign of Tamerlane. In the 17th century Uigurs conquered them and finally they came into the dependence of Kokandian Khanate in the 19th Century.

In the 19th century the Russian armed forces rolled slowly over the towns of Kokandian Khanate. In 1862 the region of present Kyrgyzstan was integrated into the Russian Empire. Until the Russian Revolution in 1917 this region was governed as part of the province of Turkestan. In 1921 the region became a part of Turkestan Autonomous Socialistic Soviet Republic (ASSR) within the Russian Socialistic Federal Soviet Republic (RSFSR). In 1924 this territory became Karakirgiz Autonomous Region of Kyrgyz ASSR. In 1936 Kyrgyzstan became Kirgiz Socialistic Soviet Republic. After the disintegration of Soviet Union in 1991 Kyrgyzstan became an independent Republic. Since that time Kyrgyzstan belongs to the CIS, Commonwealth of Independent States. In 1992 Kyrgyzstan joined the United Nations, UN. Independence Day is on 31st August and the National Day is celebrated on 2nd December.
